The National Police have urged people to pay close attention to their bank transactions given the recent revelations of financial crimes committed by bank insiders.
“We urge the public to check and recheck [transactions] connected to their banks,” National Police spokesman Ins. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said on Thursday.
People should not immediately trust those carrying out banking processes, he added.
“Don’t easily believe in things even though they are done according the bank’s procedures,” he said, as reported by kompas.com.
The police had recently arrested a woman, MD, who was a manager at Citibank. She allegedly stole Rp. 17 billion (US$2 million) from the bank’s customers over a three-year period with the help of other bank employees. She is being charged under the 2010 law on money laundering.
