Comment: Marty, Rudd to open Bali Process IV

Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Kevin Rudd
are scheduled to open the Fourth Bali Regional Ministerial Conference on People Smuggling, Traffi cking in Persons and Related Transnational Crimes, in Bali on Wednesday, an official statement says.
At least 18 ministers and officials from 41 participating countries from the Asia-Pacifi c region are set
to attend the conference, commonly known as the Bali Process, says an official statement issued by the Foreign Ministry and received by The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Since its inception, the “camp” has been used as the medium for corruption by offi cials, including
Indonesian Military members. If the “prisoners” are willing to pay bribes, officers will let them continue their journeys as illegal immigrants. They even provide transport.
I believe until this issue is sorted, all efforts are futile and a waste of Australian, Thai, and New Zealand
taxpayer money.
Sorry, Indonesia. Your tax money has already been embezzled. This one won’t make any difference.
