Two deputy leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra M. Hamzah, are set to appear as witnesses in the trial of Ary Muladi.
Ary is accused of having been a middleman for businessman Anggodo Widjojo, who in August last year was found guilty of attempting to bribe Bibit and Chandra to halt the corruption investigation into his fugitive brother, Anggoro Widjojo.
According to a report on kompas.com on Monday morning, both Bibit and Chandra had arrived at the Corruption Court in South Jakarta. Also seen at the court was KPK deputy for enforcement Ade Rahardja, who is also scheduled to testify.
Prosecutors in the case have accused Ary of working with Anggoro and Anggodo in efforts to bribe KPK investigators and a number of its leaders to the tune of Rp 5.15 billion. Prosecutors have also charged Ary with obstructing the investigations into a corruption case.
The charges carry a life sentence.
