Cement sales up 6 percent in Q1

A- A A+

Cement sales in the country rose by 6 percent in the first quarter of this year to 10.28 million tons, up from 9.7 million tons during the same period last year, an association says.

Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) chairman Urip Timuryono attributed the increase to relatively stable interest rates.

He said developers began to build properties under such supporting conditions. “There is also construction of toll roads and bridges in the first quarter of this year,” he said, as quoted by kontan.co.id.

Urip was optimistic that cement sales would reach or even surpass the target of 43 million tons this year.
