Sweden, RI set to work closely in health sector

NDONESIA: After having focused on cooperation with Jakarta in areas such as democracy, human rights, trade and investment and climate change in recent years, Sweden now wants to turn its eyes on Indonesia’s rapidly growing health sector.

Swedish Health and Social Affairs Minister Göran Hägglund is arriving in Jakarta on Tuesday to float the idea with his Indonesian counterpart Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih.

He is also bringing a big Swedish business delegation from the health sector to interact with local businesses. Sweden, which has the most modern healthcare system, is ready to offer healthcare products and technology to Indonesia.

“We have seen a strong tendency of steadily growing interest from the Swedish government’s side for Indonesia during the last years,” Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia Ewa Polano said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post on Monday.

During his stay in Jakarta, Hägglund will address a seminar on “Healthcare for the Future” on Wednesday and donate a KanMed babywarmer to the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital. — JP
