Pertamina tank fire contained: Police

A fire that broke out at the Pertamina fuel plant in Cilacap, West Java, which started on Tuesday has appeared to have stopped producing smoke, following heavy rain in the area throughout the night. An officer of Cilacap Police said the fire had begun to subsided from 2 a.m.
The tank, the third one to catch fire at the Cilacap refinery since Saturday, caught fire on Tuesday, only a few hours after operator PT Pertamina had announced that fire at the refinery had had been successfully extinguished.
As of Tuesday, Cilacap Police said they had questioned at least 22 eyewitnesses in relation to the fire and explosion in Cilacap.
Among the witnesses were the company’s security guards, workers and subcontractors, as well as several local residents.
The police have yet to conclude on whether the fire was a result of negligence as earlier reported.
