Attorney General Basrief Arief announced Wednesday two candidates for the prosecution director post at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), replacing its current director Ferry Wibisono.

“The two candidates are Ali Mukartono and Jan S Maringka,” Basrief said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Ali is currently the head of the Bekasi prosecutor's office, while Jan heads the Serang chapter.

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has recently assigned Ferry as head of strategic development agency at the junior attorney general for career empowerment . AGO made the announcement about Ferry's assignment on Monday. Basrief said AGO had its reasons to assign him to the post.

“First, it is time. He also has to develop his career. In the KPK, [he had] a maximum 4 years [in office] and he has been there for three years,” Basrief said.

Ferry has come under fire after he ushered Wisnu Subroto, former deputy attorney general for intelligence, out of the KPK offices after a questioning session. Several NGOs have urged for Ferry's dismissal from the anti-graft body.
