Rooney accepts bad language charge but appeals ban

England's Football Association says Wayne Rooney
has accepted a charge of using offensive, insulting and/or abusive
language, but says the Manchester United striker has claimed the
two-match automatic ban is "clearly excessive."
The charge follows United's victory over West Ham in the Premier
League on Saturday, when the England forward scored a rapid-fire hat
trick before swearing into a television camera.
The FA says a commission will hear Rooney's submission over the
two-match ban on Wednesday.
