The Jakarta transportation agency will close down the road adjoining the Senen flyover and Plaza Atrium in Central Jakarta for three months to make way for the construction of a bridge that would connect the plaza with the Senen market.
“The project will begin on Monday and last for the next three months,” Jakarta Transportation Agency chief Udar Pristono said on Monday.
He added that the road needed to be blocked for the piling of large pillars that would act as the foundation for the bridge.
However, he said that the road closure would not hinder the flow of traffic because vehicles could use alternative routes.
“Vehicles generally use the Senen flyover to reach Jalan Gunung Sahari. Vice versa, vehicles from Jalan Gunung Sahari heading to Jalan Kramat can use the flyover as well,” he said, as reported by kompas.com.
He said that the administration would arrange for other alternative routes if the construction caused serious obstructions to traffic.
