State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina announced Monday that the Cilacap refinery in Central Java resumed full operations after fire damaged a number of the refinery’s tanks following a blaze that broke out on April 2.
Pertamina spokesperson Mochamad Harun said in a press statement that starting Sunday the refinery returned to operating at its full capacity of 348,000 barrels of oil per day and therefore no additional fuel imports were needed.
“The fuel supplies for several regions run normally as planned distribution targets,” he said.
A tank containing light fuel exploded at the Cilacap refinery last Saturday, causing a huge fire that expanded to a number of other tanks containing the same flammable material.
The fire was extinguished on Wednesday.
The Cilacap refinery supplies diesel fuel, kerosene and premium fuel to several cities in West Java, such as Padalarang, Ujung Berung and Tasikmalaya, and areas in Central Java, including Maos, Teras and Rewulu.
