Disasters wont affect Bali-Japan cooperation

DENPASAR: The powerful earthquake, deadly tsunami and ensuing nuclear incidents that have struck Japan would not affect the cooperation program between Japanese higher-learning institutions and Bali’s Udayana University.

“The disasters do not in any way create a negative impact toward the close cooperation between Udayana University and various higher-learning institutions in Japan,” Udayana University rector Prof. I Made Bhakta said.

He said that presently there are 20 Udayana lecturers studying for masters and doctorate degrees at Japanese universities.

“They are in good condition and most of them are studying at universities in Tokyo, which is quite far from the worst hit areas. There are also two Udayana University professors who are teaching in Japan as guest lecturers,” he said.
