A Garuda Indonesia flight on Tuesday was canceled after a mechanical fault in the air conditioning system filled the cabin with a cloud of smoke as passengers were boarding the plane.

As a result, passengers were immediately requested to disembark from the Boeing 737 airplane, which was stationed at Minangkabau International Airport in Padangpariaman, West Sumatra.

The passengers, whose flight was due to depart at 6:30 a.m, were then switched to the 9:20 a.m. flight headed to Jakarta, kompas.com reported.

“Some of the passengers were switched to flights on other airlines. Nobody asked for a refund,” Garuda Indonesia Padang branch manager Dedy Irawan said.
