Said Aqil Siradj, chairman of Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization, Nadhlatul Ulama, condemned the suicide bombing at the Cirebon Police mosque.
Aqil regretted the action in Cirebon, a city known for its Muslim students (santri). “That was very irresponsible,” he said, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
He said terrorism in Indonesia had shifted from aiming at damaging American and western symbols to focusing on domestic targets.
“The terrorists can choose any place where they want,” he said.
Aqil, who was born in Cirebon, expects all NU cadres to be actively involved in making peace.
