A witness in the Ary Muladi corruption case, Hardjono, says Anggodo planned to frame the leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"I will destroy the KPK," he said, allegedly quoting Anggodo.
Harjono is the uncle of Ari, who is alleged to have been Anggodo’s middleman in an attempt to bribe KPK deputy chairmen Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah with Rp 5.1 billion (US$561,000).
Hardjono is also a long-time associate of Anggodo, since both are goods supplier to forestry company Perhutani.
During a hearing at the Corruption Court in Jakarta on Tuesday, Hardjono testified that he had been asked by Anggodo to urge Ari to go back to his first testimony, which he had withdrawn.
"Anggodo thought I could influence Ari," Hardjono said.
According to Hardjono, Ari said the first testimony was Anggodo's made up version of events.
Ari, however, refused to comply because he “felt guilty about Bibit and Chandra,” Hardjono said.
The trial will continue on April 26 with testimonies from more witness and the defendant. (awd)
