Ari Muladi should get special consideration: Lawyer

Sugeng Teguh Santoso, lawyer of graft suspect Ari Muladi, says he hopes his client gets special dispensation as he “protected” the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) interests.

Ari was alleged to have been the broker in Anggodo Widjojo’s attempt to bribe KPK deputy chairmen Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

"Ari defended the KPK and its interests," Sugeng said after Tuesday's hearing. "Hopefully it will be considered."

Ari has said that under the instruction of Anggodo Wijdojo he handed a sum of money to Yulianto in an attempt to bribe Bibit and Chandra.

Tuesday's trial heard a testimony from witness Hardjono, Ari's uncle and Anggodo's long-time associate.
