The management of PT Indonesia Ferry East Nusa Tenggara branch announced Monday the company would halt its services for two days because of extremely high tides in the area.
Indonesia Ferry operations manager Arnol Yansen said the company couldn’t operate its ferries in the high tides because it was too dangerous.
“It is too dangerous to do sea trips since there has been high tides of more than 4 meters,” Arnol said, as quoted by Pos Kupang on Tuesday.
The local weather agency has issued a public warning to postpone all sea travel for at least for this week because of the high tides resulting from Hurricane Errol. The warning affects thousands of would-be pilgrims who traditionally observe the Catholic holy week in Larantuka, a small town on the island
