Soekarno-Hatta to get new overpass

TANGERANG: The Tangerang municipal administration says it will build an overpass on the Jl. Sudirman-Daan Mogot intersection next year to reduce congestion on the way to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Tangerang Public Works Agency chief Dadang Durahman said that the 700-meter long and nine-meter wide overpass would be paid for by the central government, the local government and the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA).

“This will be our top priority next year because we need to reduce congestion leading to the airport,” he said.

Dadang said the Daan Mogot intersection was notorious for congestion as it marked the point where traffic from West Jakarta, South Tangerang, and Serang merged.

Said Endarwiyanto, secretary of the municipal Development Planning Agency, said that next year 10 out of 24 projects worth Rp 697 billion (US$80.15 million) would be funded by the central government. — JP
