JAKARTA: Prosecutors asked judges to sentence a 53-year-old woman to 20 years’ imprisonment for allegedly murdering her husband and dismembering his corpse.
A prosecutor, Prinuka, demanded that the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday find the defendant, Muryani, guilty of premeditated murder. Prinuka said prosecutors did not seek the death penalty or a life sentence since Muryani was cooperative and behaved in court, tempointeraktif.com reported.
Muryani allegedly hit her husband, Karyadi, with a glass canister while he slept in their home on Jl. Anggrek in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, in October. Prosecutors alleged that Muryani then dismembered Kar-yadi’s body and disposed of the remains in several places in East Jakarta.
The court adjourned until Wednesday, when Muryani is scheduled to deliver her defense statement. — JP
