Pundong and Bantul Police in Yogyakarta raided a house in Srihardono village, where it was suspected people were fraudulently using water from a well to fill gallon jugs for sale.

The police acted on reports from locals who became suspicious about the activities in the home reportedly owned by someone named Sugito.

“We received reports that the gallons were being filled with water taken from a well that is pumped up using a water pump and then filled,” Bantul police chief detective First Insp. Budi Kustanto was quoted as saying by kompas.com on Saturday.

The police have arrested two suspects, Edy and Wawan, who were caught filling empty gallons inside the house.

Apart from that, police also confiscated several items of equipment as well as well multiple water-filled gallons.

The owner of the house, suspected to be the brains behind the fraud, is still being sought by the police.

Police are still uncertain about the distribution area. (awd)
