Terrorism defendant Abu Bakar Ba’asyir said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
was an infidel for his failure to hold up the true law under Islam, in his
trial hearing at South Jakarta District Court on Monday.
The firebrand cleric, who has been linked to a series of terrorist activities
acts and bombings across Indonesia, also said all Indonesian
leaders, were thogut (evil), including its founding
fathers and first president Sukarno.
“Yudhoyono is an infidel. That’s the consequence for him, because he hasn't
followed the right teaching of Islamic law,” Ba’asyir said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on
Monday.
He added that Islam had been cornered by slander from various groups during
Yudhoyono's presidency.
“All [Indonesian leaders], from the thogut Sukarno through to thogut
Yudhoyono, did not faithfully abide by Islamic law,” he said without further
explanation
