Bomb hits Pakistan navy bus in Karachi

A- A A+

Officials say a bomb has hit a bus carrying employees of the Pakistan navy in the southern city of Karachi, causing some casualties.

Local government spokeswoman Sharmila Farooqi said Tuesday's attack was apparently carried out by a man riding a motorcycle.

Pakistan Navy spokesman Commander Salman Ali confirmed the attack, but could not immediately confirm how many people were killed or wounded.

Karachi is the capital of southern Sindh province, where the navy's main facilities are located.

Islamist militants seeking to overthrow the government or a halt in army offensives against their safe havens in the northwest often attack security forces.
