State airport manager PT Angkasa Pura II says it will double the size of the apron of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.

The company has allocated Rp 156.33 billion (US$18.13 million) to expand the apron by 72,896 square meters from the current 62,505 square meters.

The expansion will allow the terminal to accommodate more parked Boeing 737-900 aircraft, Angkasa Pura II operations director Salahuddin Rafi said Wednesday in Jakarta.

“The total capacity will be 11 aircraft,” he added, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Rafi said the expansion work was expected to be completed in December.
