Rotua Magadalena holds seventh solo exhibition

Rotua Magdalena Pardede opened her seventh solo exhibition, titled “The Blessing of Mother Earth”, at Rumah Jawa, Jl Kemang Timur 99 in Kemang, South Jakarta.

The exhibition, which will last until May 20, showcases some 50 works of Rotua's explorations of visual arts, tempointeraktif.com reports.

Using a technique she calls “layered artography”, Rotua combines various disciplines from the visual arts of painting, photography and installation in her works.

Born in Jakarta, on Sept. 2, 1971, Rotua Magdalena began her artistic career in the 1990s as a student at the department of graphic art at the Jakarta Institute of Art. She graduated in 1999.

She held her first solo exhibition, titled “My Work”, in Cemeti Gallery in 1994. She has since held five other solo exhibitions, including “Little Naration” (1997), “Woman & Her Living Room” (2006) and “Unforgotten Paradise” (2009).
