Calling on the people to join the fight against terrorism, Communications and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring said his ministry would try to block sites suspected of encouraging terrorist ideologies and actions.
“If you find sites that provoke [terror acts], please report that to me. So far, we have blocked some sites,” said Tifatul, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com on Friday.
He said that most blocked sites promoting terrorism were from abroad.
“If those sites spread hatred and agitation, we will shut them down. We have legal grounds for that,” he said.
Authorities have upped their efforts to crack down on terrorism following a number of terrorist acts committed throughout the country, including book bombs, the bombing at a police compound and explosives found at Serpong church in Tangerang, Banten.
