National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo says he expects people cooperation to assist the law enforcers in safeguarding the upcoming ASEAN summit. He said that the police and army would need the support and coordination of the people to ensure the safety of the summit, which be held at the Jakarta Convention Centre from May 7-8.
"It will be a positive experience for everyone, not to mention our country’s image before the international community," Pradopo said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He asked the people to immediately report anything suspicious over the course of the summit.
"Don’t hesitate to report anything suspicious to us or the nearest military unit,” he said.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said earlier that the ASEAN Summit would be a historical event and therefore encouraged Jakartans to provide maximum assistance to the organization of the event.
