President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is slated to visit two factories this year's May Day. Yudhoyono will visit PT Kemenangan Jaya, a ceramics industry, located near his residence in Gunung Putri, Bogor. The other one is PT Tirta Investama, which is located in Cileungsi, also in Bogor.
While the President is heading south, thousands of factory workers from around the capital will travel to the State Palace to observe International Workers Day, or widely known as May Day. They are going to stage a mass rally before the building.
Kompas.com reported that these workers were also targeting other state buildings as their mass rally targets this year. Therefore, the Jakarta Police through their Twitter account have suggested the people avoid the city’s thoroughfares such as South and North Medan Merdeka streets, where most of the country’s state buildings are located, from 6.a.m. until 12 a.m today as these streets will be used by the worker demonstrators.
