PKS founder to file lawsuit following unfair dismissal

Yusuf Supendi, one of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) founders, plans to file a lawsuit against his party colleagues at the South Jakarta District Court today.

Yusuf says he will come with his lawyers to file the lawsuit.

“God willing, I along with my lawyers will arrive at the court no later than 11a.m. this morning to file the lawsuit against the PKS executives,” Supendi said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

The party elites who are being reported are PKS advisory board head Hilmi Aminuddin, party president Lutfi Hasan Ishaaq, secretary-general Anis Matta, deputy secretary-general Mahfudz Siddiq, former president Tifatul Sembiring, Syari board head Surahman Hidayat and Segaf Al Jufri, who now serves as the minister of social affairs.

Supendi’s lawyer, Danny Saliswijaya, had earlier said that the report was an obligation for his client following a one-sided dismissal that had been conducted by the party executives, who are mostly Supendi’s juniors.

“My client hadn’t been warned properly about the dismissal. It just happened all of a sudden,” he said.

He said because of the unfair dismissal, his client had to endure the effects of the financial crisis that hit not only him but his entire family. He said the dismissal had also caused Supendi to lose trust in his other colleagues.

Yusuf Supendi’s name came under the spotlight after criticizing the PKS for abandoning its own moral values. He also cited that the PKS was now becoming a corrupt party.
