Two dead as fire razes old house in C. Jakarta

Two people were found dead after a fire gutted an old house in the Kwitang area, a field officer of the Central Jakarta fire brigade says.

“So far, the dead victims are recognized as M Pieter, the owner of the house and his son who was between 48 and 50 years old,” officer Decky said Monday as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that currently at least 26 fire trucks were working to extinguish the blaze in the house that Pieter had shared with 35 other people.

The fire brigade were also working to determine a cause of the fire, Decky said.

“We are also still investigating whether any other people died in the blaze,” he said.
