The appeals council at the Jakarta High Court has turned down an appeal request in the case of bribery convict Haposan Hutagalung linked to the tax corruption case of Gayus H. Tambunan, and increased Haposan’s sentence to nine years’ imprisonment.
His sentence is now two years longer than the initial sentence handed down by South Jakarta District Court on January 19.
The sentence was decided on by the appeals council on Thursday last week, Jakarta High Court spokesman Ahmad Sobari said Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com
Sobari said that justices had found Haposan guilty on three counts of corruption.
Haposan was charged for violating an investigation of Gayus. He was also charged for bribery, implicating two investigators in the National Police, Comr. Arafat Enanie and Adj. Comr. Sri Sumartini.
Haposan was also charged for bribery related to another bribery case, dragging former National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji into the legal arena.
