Tomohon mayor gets 9 years for graft

A panel of judges at Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday sentenced Tomohon Mayor Jefferson Solaiman Rumajar to nine years in prison after he was found guilty in a Rp 33.7 billion graft case.

The panel has also obliged Rumajar to pay Rp 200 million in fines or otherwise serve another two months in prison.

“The defendant is also obliged to return Rp 31 billion of the Rp 33.7 billion he spent during his tenure as mayor,” presiding judge Jupriadi said Tuesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com

Jupriadi added that if the defendant failed to return the embezzled funds, he would be handed down another two years in prison.
