Indonesia Police Watch, an NGO that monitors the activities of the police and judiciary, has urged the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to hand over the sisminbakum.com case to the court so the trial can begin.
“I am afraid prosecutors feel discouraged because they faced a huge amount of pressure during the case prosecution process.
"But since the prosecutors have said they could prove the case before the court, they have no reason to not submit the dossier,” Indonesia Police Watch coordinator Neta S. Pane said Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com
Neta also recommended the AGO file an appeal to the Supreme Court for its recent ruling that freed former justice and human rights ministry official Romli Kartasasmita from all charges.
The case surrounds alleged graft that took place in the creation and management of an online business registration system, known by the abbreviated site name sisminbakum.com, by the Law and Human Rights Ministry and private company PT Sarana Rekatama Dinamika (SRD).
The contract between the two parties stipulated that 90 percent of profits from the online service would go to the company, which amassed approximately Rp 420 billion in access fees between April 2001 and November 2008.
The case implicates former law and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who authorized the system, and PT SRD owner Hartono Tanoesoedibjo.
