Short-listed Supreme Court judge candidates to be announced next month

The second round of selections to nominate 10 new Supreme Court judges from 79 candidates is complete, the results of which will be published in June this year, the Judicial Commission says.

“The announcement [of the results] of the second phase, screening [candidates’] personality, will be announced in the first week of June,” Judicial Commission spokesman Asep Rahmat Fajar said Friday.

Asep added that candidates took part in the selection processes from May 9 to 12 would also be graded based on other variables including a thesis, professional achievements and profile assessments.

“The thesis was written on the spot,” he said, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.

Candidates who pass this round will enter the next round, which will include an interview and a health inspection. The names of candidates who pass the third round will be sent to the House of Representatives, where legislators will screen candidates with fit-and-proper tests.
