Thousands of students failed national exam

As many as 16,098 senior high schools students failed the national examination this year, the National Education Minister M.Nuh said on Friday.
The number comprised 11,443 students from regular senior high schools and Islamic senior high schools and 4,655 students from vocational senior high schools.
This year the exams were taken by 1,461,941 students from 16,835 regular senior high schools and Islamic school schools; and 942,698 students from 8,074 vocational senior high schools.
Nuh said this year's results were better than last year's because the percentage of students passing the national exam had increased. This year’s percentage for regular and Islamic senior high rose to 99.22 percent from 99.04 percent last year. The pass percentage for students in vocational high school increased to 99.68 percent from 99.20 percent last year.
According to Nuh, there were five regular and Islamic senior high schools where all of the students failed the exam. He declined to name the schools.
