Police arrest 4 in C. Java raid

Besides shooting dead two suspected terrorists in a raid on Saturday that also left a nearby vendor dead, the police arrested four other suspects in the Central Java town of Sukoharjo.

The four are currently being detained at the Yogyakarta Police station.

“The four are alive. They were arrested during the raid that led to the exchange of gunfire and the death of the three others,” said a Yogyakarta police officer, who asked to be anonymous, as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said the four had arrived at the Yogyakarta Police office at around 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The National Police’s Detachment 88 anti-terrorism unit conducted the terrorist raid in Dukuh village in Grogol district, Sukoharjo at about 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The police said they had to use deadly force, as the suspects had opened fire.
