The National Police on Sunday released photographs of two people who were shot dead early on Saturday morning in a gunfight with police in Sukoharjo, Central Java.

National Police spokesperson Ins. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said officers had used a DNA test to confirm that one of those killed was Hendro Yunianto, adding that comparative data had been obtained from Hendro's parents: Manto Sumarto and Marinem.

“We confirmed his identity by comparing his DNA with that of his parents. His remains will be taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Semarang, rather than be sent to the National Police Hospital in Jakarta,” Anton said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Police forensic expert Sr. Comr. Anton Castilani said his office had yet to confirm whether the other person shot in the raid was Sigit Qurdowi.

“We are waiting for comparative samples from his family,” Castilani said.

The police have said they will not release the remains before all DNA tests are complete.

Following the raid, Sigit's house in Sukoharjo had remained empty, Metrotvnews.com reported Sunday.

Police also said that the two suspects were listed on the police wanted list for their alleged involvement in church and Kliwon market bombings in Surakarta, Central Java.

The pair were also alleged to have played roles in the suicide bombing in Cirebon last month.

Anton said police had found a laptop computer containing several video clips showing Sigit training recruits in terrorist activities. One of the recruits in the video was M. Syarif, the Cirebon suicide bomber, he said.

As of today, the police have listed 14 terrorist suspects: Basuki, Dede, Andri Siswanto, Mushola, Ishak Indrayana, Ibrahim, Ferdiansyah, Zulkifli, Edi Jablay, Hari, Ari Agung, dan Arifin in relation with the Cirebon suicide bombing.

Regarding the death of a civilian in an earlier raid, Anton said he was killed by one of the suspects.

“We did an autopsy ... We also organized a reconstruction of the attack. The bullet was from the gun of [the person we believed to be] Sigit,” Anton said as quoted by kompas.com.

National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) chief Ifdhal Kasim said his commission would investigate the civilian shooting.

“We will know whose gun killed Nur Iman after a ballistics investigation. The police have not done one yet, so they should not declare that Iman was shot by a [suspected] terrorist,” he said.

House of Representatives' Commission III member Eva Kusuma Sundari said her commission would also question police in regards to the incident.

The civilian, Nur Iman, was shot dead by stray bullet. He had been working selling food less than 100 meters away when the gunfight took place. (lfr)
