Defense Ministry meets future US military leaders

Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and his staff on Wednesday met a senior mentor and students from the United States Capstone Military course at the Defense Ministry in Jakarta.

"The meeting was about regional peace and stability and the importance of Indonesia in that role," Admiral USN Bud Edney (ReT) said, referring to Southeast Asia and ASEAN, but also ASEAN +1 and +8, which include China, Japan, Russia and the US.

The same group has also been to the Republic of Korea, China and Cambodia, Edney said.

The hour-long meeting in Jakarta was part of the US national defense education program, which takes students to areas of importance, he said.
