The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) announced Thursday that it has a graduate program in game and animation design that is free of charge, including the cost for research.

The program is at ITB’s School of Art and Design under the Game Design, Animation and Design of Digital Media concentration. Students can choose to research three subjects: games, animation or digital applications.

The program has 36 credits and runs for 18 months. The application period is open in two sessions: April and June.

“We have three classes as of this year,” program head Intan Mutiaz said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The program, which is a collaborative work between ITB and the National Education Ministry’s Foreign Cooperation Bureau, is accepting 25 students this year. The two previous classes were limited to only 10 students, who were teachers and private employees.

Intan said that the government covered the tuition fee. Those scholarships aim to prepare and develop people in Indonesia’s creative industry.

“We ask for the commitment of the students to develop games, animation and digital media in their own communities,” she said.
