Gus Dur’s family says no to planned university

The family of late former president Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur said that they would not allow Gus Dur’s name to be used for a planned university.

A number of intellectuals have announced that they are planning to establish a university under the Mubarok Foundation called the Gus Dur School of Philosophy.

Kompas.com reported that the Wahid Institute issued a statement under the name of Gus Dur’s family members, including Sinta Nuriyah Abdurrahman Wahid, Alissa Qotrunnada Munawwaroh Rahman, Zarnuba Arifah Chafsoh Rahman, Anita Hayatunnufus Rahman, and Inayah Wulandari Wahid.

The statement said that Gus Dur’s family wanted an explanation from the Mubarok Foundation regarding its plans for the school.
