Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo says the central government has given the city Rp 70 billion (US$8.19 million) to host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, scheduled for Nov 11-25.

“We are optimistic that everything will go according to plan,” Fauzi said Monday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Fauzi added he has not yet received a report on where athletes will be accommodated during the Games.

“I have requested that those responsible for accommodations wrap things up as soon as possible so we can ensure things such as hotels to accommodate the athletes. If there is no certainty, the businesspeople can sell [the rooms] to others,” Fauzi said.

The central government was responsible for making recommendations on accommodations, Fauzi added.
