A motorcyclist died after being hit by a Transjakarta bus near Taman Anggrek Mall in West Jakarta on Monday morning, police say.
The accident took place at around 9 a.m.
Eyewitnesses said the motorcyclist had attempted to make a U-turn underneath Tomang bridge by crossing the busway lane, which is supposed to only be used by Transjakarta buses.
A Transjakarta bus approaching from behind hit the motorcyclist, killing her.
The woman was not identified in the police report.
The passenger riding on the motorcycle, also a woman, survived the collision.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said the driver of the bus, Waldino, had been taken to West Jakarta Police Headquarters, while the remains of the victim were taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.
