Malaysian Police chief Insp. Gen. Tan Sri Musa visited the Indonesian National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Monday to discuss new ways to reduce crime in both countries.

"We received a regional visit from the Malaysian Police chief [Insp. Gen. Tan Sri Musa] to [improve] coordination in the field of counterterrorism," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said Monday.

He added that the discussions also touched upon other issues including narcotics.

"[We] are hoping to exchange a variety of information," he said.

Anton added that both countries had agreed to assist one another in capturing terrorists who have escaped into either country.

Terrorists were also said to have traveled across the borders of both countries as part of their training or to collect materials for their activities.
