Mahfud to report Nazaruddin to KPK

Constitutional Court chief justice Mahfud MD is scheduled to meet with the
Corruption Eradication Commision (KPK) chairman on Tuesday regarding bribery
allegations.
"Yes, Pak Mahfud is coming to the
KPK this afternoon," Constitutional Court spokesperson Noor Sidharta told The Jakarta Post via a text message on
Tuesday.
Mahfud will meet KPK chief Busyro Muqoddas to report an alleged bribe offered
to a court official by Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin.
"Yes, it is concerning that Nazaruddin case," KPK chairman Busyro
Muqoddas said, regarding his planned meeting with Mahfud.
Mahfud had reported to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and later to the
public, about Nazaruddin's suspected involvement in a major bribery attempt at
the Constitutional Court.
According to Mahfud, Nazaruddin handed two envelopes containing money totaling
US$120,000 to Janedri.
Janedri refused the money, which reportedly led to threats from Nazaruddin saying
that he would "wreak havoc” on the Constitutional Court, Mahfud said.
Democrat elites called Mahfud’s accusations merely a publicity stunt in his
quest for the presidential post in the 2014 elections.
