The National Police have officially named the six alleged members of the Islamic State of Indonesia (NII) movement as suspects of subversive acts.
The police arrested the six in Ungaran, Central Java, on Monday.
"The six people who were detained in Ungaran and have been questioned within a 24-hour time period at the Central Java Police,” National Police deputy spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said on Wednesday. “They have been named suspects and have been arrested."
He added that the police would charge the six suspects with subversion.
The NII seeks to establish an Islamic state under the sharia law in Indonesia.
Boy added that each of the arrested persons held positions in the movement.
"Some are from the administrative, logistics and finance departments," he said.
He also added that the suspects held positions as “governor”, “head of logistics” and “treasurer”. The others were in “logistics”, and the communications and personnel departments.
The movement mimics the administrative positions found in governments.
