Palu Police has deployed more officers to guard banks across Palu, Central Sulawesi, following a drive-by shooting that resulted in the deaths of two police officers and seriously injured another in front of a BCA bank in the city on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, Antara reported that a team from the National Police led by Adj. Sr. Comr. Maruli Simanjuntak had been gleaning the crime scene for evidence for more than two hours, in search of cartridge casings and projectiles.

Also helping to cordon off the area were personnel from the Military Police and dozens of police officers from other precincts.

Maruli declined to reveal the result of the investigation.

After their investigation, police removed the police line from the front of the bank except for an area around the police post where the officers were stationed during the attack.

During the shooting, Second Brig. Gustiar Yudistira and Second Brig. Andi Irbar Prawira were killed and Second Brig. Deddy Edward Undusten was shot in the thigh.

Separately, the National Police announced on Thursday it had arrested two suspects allegedly linked to the shooting, and had seized three firearms from them.
