KPK to summon Sports and Youth Affairs Minister next week

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chair Busyro Muqoddas confirmed Friday that Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Andi Malarangeng would be summoned for questioning next week regarding the current bribery case implicating the Ministry.

“That’s right, [he will be summoned] on Tuesday,” Busyro said.

The commission recently arrested Youth and Sport Affairs Ministry secretary Wafid Muharram for allegedly receiving bribes from PT Duta Graha Indah (DGI) marketing director M. El Idris.

The bribery was allegedly related to the construction of an athletes’ dormitory in South Sumatra for the upcoming SEA Games.

The case also implicated Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin, who himself is slated to be summoned on Tuesday, but is currently rumored to have fled the country to Singapore.
