Trucks return to Jakarta inner city toll road

With no consensus at a discussion on Thursday evening on the recent restriction on trucks using Jakarta’s inner-city toll road, trucks were once again allowed to use the road on Friday, pending the result of another meeting scheduled for Friday evening.
"We've tried, but the government thinks otherwise. We have no choice but bow to pressure, if it’s for the sake of common good,” Jakarta Traffic Police chief Sr. Comr. Royke Lumowa said Friday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
"Residents will bear the consequences and will again face gridlock,” he said.
The Thursday meeting, involving the Transportation Ministry, the Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) and the Jakarta administration, failed to reach an agreement.
“Starting [Friday, trucks] can use any roads in the city,” Royke added.
