Jakartans generally agreed that Judgment Day would eventually arrive — but not during their lifetimes and not last Saturday. As doomsday predictions flooded the Internet, with many citizens scoffing at the idea, most Jakartans found that the brouhaha had no place here.
Your comments:
It is evident that Harold Camping missed something in his meticulous calculation of Biblical facts to arrive at the May 21, 2011, conclusion.
I am a layman Christian who doesn’t know much about the Bible but has been trying to follow his deep and careful study almost every day since 1989.
It seems to me that everything falls in place perfectly, except that I have never heard him discuss Matthew 25:5, which says “but while the bridegroom was delayed”. I am puzzled.
Does it mean that the date was indeed correct, but we do not know how long the delay will be?
He preaches the truth of the Bible despite his obvious miss in his calculation on this matter. I have happened to meet him several times. He is a very devoted and humble Bible teacher.
As the founder and president of Family Stations Inc. that (I heard) receives donations in excess of US$10 million per month, he takes NO salary at all — not a penny! He lives a very modest life with his wife in California.
