You got to give, because you’ve got a friend: Another jazz concert on the beach

A- A A+

The year 2011 has been a very good year for the music scene in Indonesia, especially jazz. This is evident from the increasing number of international musicians that have come and performed at various events and music festivals held in the country, including the jazz festival on the beach.

Magicworx Entertainment in collaboration with LA Menthol Lights proudly presents the LA Lights Menthol Sunday Jazz Festival 2011 that will be held at Segarra Beach Club, Carnaval Ancol beach, on June 5, 2011. For the second year running, the event will treat you to an evening of jazz during sunset on the beach that promises to be dynamic and full of improvisation.

The event is headlined by the group that started the acid jazz movement in UK: The Brand New Heavies. The group that was founded in London in 1985 did not take long to emerge as a new force around the clubs in London to present a new jazz style, which is more “friendly” for a wider audience.

From then onwards, the acid jazz movement continued to spread rapidly to other countries around the world. A lot of their hits are known worldwide, from Got to Give, Midnight The Oasis, You’ve Got a Friend to of course the song that always makes us sing and start to dance: You Are The Universe. After the 26 years in the industry, The Brand New Heavies is still eager to contribute to the world music industry. Jan Kincaid, Simon Bartholomew, Andrew Levy and N’Dea Davenport, the four members of the group are ready to entertain their loyal fans who are looking forward to their appearance in Indonesia.

Besides The Brand New Heavies, the festival will also be supported by famous homegrown jazz musicians including Maliq & D’Essentials, Barry Likumahuwa Project, Rieka Roslan, Andien, Ecoutez!, Soulvibe, Un Soirée, Iwan Abdie & Mr. Brightsight, Valsetto Valent, Notturno, Mian Tiara and Parkdrive.

Enjoy the festive atmosphere with bands playing on two stages on the beach all day. And for the shopaholic, don’t worry, there will be a “little paradise” for shopping lovers: the Square Market bazaar. Several local brand outlets are selling various most wanted items and trendy clothing at very competitive prices.

So what are you waiting for? Soak up the ambience of a sunset jazz beach party at LA Menthol Lights Jazz Festival Sunday 2011. Chill out and let the music help you unwind in a comfortable and relaxing setting.
