Malaysian brothers get 20 years for drugs

The South Jakarta District Court sentenced three Malaysian brothers to 20 years’ imprisonment for drug smuggling on Tuesday.
Mugilan Anguthan, A. Arivananthan Angutan and Perumal Anguthan looked glum as they received the sentence, which came with a Rp 1 billion (US$117,000) fine.
According to lead judge Astuti Wulandari the three were guilty of smuggling 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in a red suitcase belonging to Mugilan.
The drugs were discovered on November 21 2010 during a raid of their hotel room in South Jakarta.
"Mugilan said he accepted the sentence while his brothers will think about an appeal," the defendants' lawyer , Yahya Iskandar said after the verdict. (awd)
