Police arrest 3rd suspect in Palu shooting case

Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of police officers in Palu, Central Sulawesi, last week, the National Police says.

Four armed men opened fire at three policemen guarding a bank in Palu on Wednesday. Two of the officers died in the attack.

"We have arrested another [suspect] and confiscated several bullets from them," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said.

Earlier two suspects were arrested, Hariyanto and Firdaus, in connection with the shootings.

Anton further added that the suspect had been arrested on Monday evening.

"The arrested person is a family member of Hariyanto," he added.

Two other figures involved in the shooting remain at large, Anton said.

The pair allegedly shot at another police officer during their escape from Palu.
